Martha - 24 days

Here is the latest offering of pictures, taken over the past week.
She is starting to be aware of a few things, but really not much at all, and is still pretty much totally incapable of anything. This is the source of much amusement for me, but not for her I suspect. She is also getting quite spotty!

Here she is, post-bath, relaxing, and in the living room, following a kitchen burning incident. I quite like the smoky effect here that gives the place a Victorian feel.

She still sleeps well, though does yell for all sorts of reasons (known and unknown) at any time, but not for long. We are lucky. Pround grandparents Martin hold her here.

Except for the last time, she hasn't like having a bath, and it was guaranteed to make her scream very loudly and wave her little arms about frantically.

Martha - end of week 2

We now have pictures of Martha at the end of her 2nd week. She is still providing us with much entertainment, and is a continual source of amusement.

Now the grandparents have arrived for a stay and here we are walking in Redwood Park, in Oakland in the pushchair which is several sizes too big. She's changed a bit since the first week, but not so far as to be able to do anything much, but does seem able to concentrate on things more and stays awake for longer also.

Martha - end of week one

Here are some more pictures of Martha after the first week of her life.

I hope dressing a girl in blue is not considered to damaging a thing to do, but I understand that they can't see colour too well anyway, and if she could then I am sure she's happy with the idea of it.

Here she is put in her portable bed next to my breakfast

The bucket in which the larger items that were not Martha were placed in after the birth. Quite fascinating I thought and the doctor gave us a "tour" of the placenta later.

Martha Martin

Martha Hopwood Martin

Born on 6th April 2006 at 15:41, at the Kaiser Foundation Hospital, in Oakland, California.

Carrie and Martha a few seconds after the birth. Martha was a bit purple on the hands and feet, but that disappeared quickly. Note large amount of thick hair. According to rumours going around the hospital staff, the hair was reponsible for the bad heartburn Carrie had at all times during the pregnancy. (left)

The obligatory weighing picture (below), (in kg) taken when she was removed from Carrie - about 45minutes after birth. The hospital has already placed a special baby tag on her foot which sets off an alarm if anyone tries to make off with her.

Doting father after a particularly fine job of swaddling her up. She is yawning by the way, not crying (above)
