Tom at 6 months, Martha 33

Since the last post, we've spent an eventful, sunny week in Southern California with many Johnstons and Willards, as the pictures below will attest. Currently Uncle Chris and Auntie Rachel are staying with us, and giving the kids lots of fun attention. Uncle Chris has recently introduced Martha to the family favorite, "killer dumptruck."

This month has brought more dramatic change for Tom than for Martha; he's now eating some mushy solids a couple of times a day (baby cereal, apple sauce, sweet potato, avocado)and is turning over both ways, and completely. He uses this as a way to get around, not only across the rug but angling so as to make side trips as well. We're working on his sleeping, which is not awful but which we feel will only improve with direction--i.e. a bit of Crying It Out.

Currently Martha has playdates on Monday with some kids from the neighborhood (who will be Tom's peers soon enough--they're 14 month-old-boys); sees her friend Peter on Tuesdays; goes to see Nana Terrie or meets up with Royal and July on Wednesdays; and visits MoCHa or other such activity on Thursdays. Fridays are the days for library story time and a nearby playgroup. It is nice to have a routine, though we realize it will probably change soon.

I've begun to look into preschools/daycare for the fall and to consider what I might do, workwise. I'm looking forward to that next phase while continuing to relish this period, which Adrian and I agree we will look back on as a wonderful time for our family.
