Martha at 6 months
Hello Martha followers,
She is now half a year old! It does not seem like we've had her at home for six month now, but it would appear to be the case. She is making very good progress on grabbing things and putting them in her mouth, and is now doing so with objects that are quite small or heavy as she can control her fingers increasingly more adeptly. However it seems that getting things in as fast as possible is the most important thing, and she spends probably 50% of her day gnawing or chewing on anything that happens to be around.
She does not show any signs of wanting to turn herself over, but is almost sitting up (she has sat up for periods of up to one minute by herself, but that doesn't count, I don't think). Also she is trying to drag herself about using her arms. A bit.

Note appearance of slight eyebrows now!

However, there has been much progress on the food front. She now eats sweet potato, green beans (warm, cooked and all mashed up), avocado and pears (cold, just mushed up) as well as rice or oat cereal (warm, sometimes with the aforementioned). This is proving quite a messy business, but also quite entertaining as she obviously enjoys the new tastes and is frantic sometimes in her enthusiasm to get hold of the spoon. And it's a mouth-based exercise too.

I continue to look after her two days a week at home (usually Mondays and Thursdays) and we have a large number of things we like to do on those days. Here are some pictures of Martha enjoying some of the activities (that I can photograph):

Using swing under the door

Under the gymini

In the Exersaucer - this thing can rotate to offer a different selection of activities, as the user desires
Also we read and eat books, walk around the streets and shops of the area, sleeping sometimes, eat (see above), spend time doing "tummy time", trying to crawl about, get carried about the house as I do the washing, cleaning, cooking etc.

Grandma has made the trip by herself from the UK to be with her (and probably us at some lesser level). Unfortunately it's getting cold here just in time for her arrival. I hope she can tell us a bit about what happens to babies after 6 months, because though we are experts on anything to do with babies up to 6 months, we have no clue whatsoever about anything beyond that point. We do have one book, but its really quite embarrassing however little I know about when kids start to talk or walk. Grandma has had some experience of this so is going to help us I hope -- but thinking about it, the experience was with me, and I'm sure its unlikely that anyone could progress as fast as I.
