Tom at 5 months, Martha 32 months

We've had a nice month since returning from the UK. It's increasingly fun to talk to Martha and to hear her sing her own versions of carols and nursery rhymes. She is also more defiant, but not by any means 'terrible' (as in terrible twos); we've heard recently that some children who have easy temperaments are terrible at three, not two, so maybe we've got treats in store ahead. Usually redirection works well with M; if not, some prudent ignoring and then a hug will get her back on track. When all else fails, counting to five is a good stand-by.
Tom is now not only turning over but bouncing about in the doorway. He spends more time under the gymini, and now that he's learned how to roll over he usually gives himself some tummy time. We're also getting him accustomed to his crib and to his soft toys, which Martha helpfully hands to him over and over--more patiently than we would!
